Debbie has been teaching figure skating for over 40 years, and weekly sport psychology classes since 2001. She has occasionally taught power skating to hockey players, and was her older son's first hockey coach, and the termite commissioner for her younger son. Deb has helped co-direct and choreograph the Rochester Figure Skating Club's Annual Spring Ice Show since 1995.
Debbie grew up in Rochester with brothers who played, a father who coached, and spent weekends attending Mustang games with her dad. Her son continued in the sport through college and a brief time in the professional leagues. She is a fan!
Debbie is interested in providing access to everyone who wants to play, promoting strong foundation skills, and keeping the game safe for all. She has, with Aynsley Smith, coordinated a Safety Clinic, and serves as a reviewer of the RHF scholarships for high school seniors.
I don't think there is a player from Rochester who played Junior, college, or in the professionals who was not taught skating by Deb Colgan.Mike Stuart (LHS, Mustangs, CC, NHL, World Juniors)
